Estonian Golf and Country Club has welcomed golfers from across the globe to take part in the first four-day tournament to be staged in the country.

Open to both amateur and professional golfers, the inaugural EGCC Trophy by Euronics, was won by South African professional, Khaya Jika.

Staged on the highly acclaimed Sea Course - ranked in Golf World magazine's Top 100 Golf Courses in Europe - the 29-year-old, made an impressive start to his tournament with two rounds of one-under par, 71.

With closest rivals Georg Reintam and Martin Järve, both from Estonia, slipping backwards in their second rounds, Jika, who is based at Fancourt, South Africa, capitalised with closing rounds of 74 and 71 to complete the event in one-under par.

Estonian Golf & Country Club, part of the European Tour Courses network, has hosted a number of European Golf Association (EGA) events, including the International European Seniors' Championships 2013 in June.

The EGCC Trophy by Euronics was the first tournament test of the Sea Course over four days and Hanno Kross, Estonian Golf & Country Club Chief Executive, who completed the contest in 38 th, was encouraged by the result.

He said: "Khaya's consistent low-scoring rounds proved that the course was up to the four-day event and we will seek to stage even more prestigious tournaments of this length in the future."
