Funchal, Madeira, September 1st, 2014 - This year Palheiro Estate is planning its first authentic Oktoberfest celebrations. This boisterous German holiday first saw light in the early 19th century and offers party-goers beer, bratwurst and great music.
You don’t have to go overseas to enjoy Bavarian hospitality - Palheiro Estate is bringing an authentic Oktoberfest right to our doorstep. Between the 3rd and 5th of October, get ready for a “Gaudi” of a time in Madeira, there will be a five man band, with lots of beer, food and not to mention schnaps. Palheiro’s Vera Prömer said “We are very pleased to be able to bring an authentic Austrian band to Madeira; Krauhölzl Musi are a young and dynamic group who play all over the world, including Munich & Dubai and will be performing at Palheiro on the 3rd, 4th & 5th.”
On the 5th of October we celebrate Frühschoppen, a form of traditional bavarian "brunch" where friends & family gather at midday to drink and socialise.
As well as three different kinds of German beers, the authentic menu features Weisswurst (sausages), Sauerbraten (pork loin), Rotkraut (red cabbage), Serviettenknödel (napkin dumplings), Apfelstrudel and Bavarian pretzels.
Tickets to the Palheiro Oktoberfest are €39 per person on the 3rd & 4th, and €25 on the 5th and include one meal & one drink ticket. Please purchase your tickets and book a table in advance, as seats are limited.
