Important Golf Course Enhancements Herald the Beginning of a Stellar Year for The Grove

The Grove, London's five-star golf resort, has today commenced a series of enhancements to its award-winning Kyle Phillips-designed golf course, in preparation for hosting The European Tour's British Masters supported by Sky Sports, later this year.

Already acknowledged in a number of influential Top 100 rankings lists, and rated 'England's Number One Pay-and-Play Golf Course' by Golf Monthly, The Grove is renovating all 90 bunkers on its 7,152 yard golf course, and also enhancing drainage on 13 holes.

The work will see the installation of a specialist Blinder liner system into 18 sand traps to improve drainage and safeguard original design features, whilst a program of sand exchange will be undertaken across all 90 bunkers. A number of bunkers will also be built back up to their original levels, decreasing the height of some faces.

Anna Darnell, Director of Golf at The Grove, said: "These important course improvements highlight our ongoing commitment to significantly invest in our product and will maintain the golf course in prime condition for the 2016 season and beyond, and ensure an exceptional stage is set when we welcome The European Tour's finest golfers for The British Masters in October.

"We are expecting the work to take up to eight weeks, but it is important to note that visitor-play will be unaffected, with only two temporary greens in use at any one time during the process."

The British Masters supported by Sky Sports, which this year will be hosted by Luke Donald, will mark 10 years since The Grove last hosted a major golf tournament. In 2006, it staged the American Express World Golf Championship, won by Tiger Woods, which remains the only WGC event ever played on UK soil.

"We want every golfer to experience course conditions and service like they were themselves playing in a Tour event, and we are confident our improvement works will help us to showcase The Grove in its best condition," added Anna.

The resort, set in 300 acres of Hertfordshire countryside and located less than 25 miles north west of central London, offers luxury accommodation in 26 historic Mansion House suites, as well as 191 rooms within the contemporary West Wing, close to the Sequoia Spa where guests can indulge in a variety of treatments and therapies.
