Golfers seeking the best golf and gastronomy Spain has to offer should head to Costa Brava this summer where you can taste the best menus, and to take in the country’s No.1* golf experience, including the critically acclaimed Stadium Course at PGA Catalunya Resort.

Flanked by the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean Sea, Costa Brava offers 12 golf courses and 10 Pith & Putt courses, each providing sharply contrasting landscapes and different playing experiences. Visitors therefore looking for a course that challenges all standards of player will not de disappointed.

The gourmet golfers will also be spoilt for choice as Girona’s province continue to offer the highest concentration of Michelin-starred restaurants in Spain, accounting for 18 stars to date.

The world’s second best restaurant, a three-star Michelin establishment by the name of El Celler de Can Roca, is situated in the heart of Girona and, together with other Michelin starred restaurants, including Massana and l’Aliança, will be among those showcasing culinary skills and delights.

Costa Brava’s three-star Michelin restaurant is also just a short distance from Golf Girona and the 36-hole Spanish Open venue, PGA Catalunya Resort, a World Top 100 Golf Course and Spain’s new number one course.

“The appeal of combining great golf and first-class gastronomy is becoming an increasingly popular trend,” commented Ramón Ramos, Director at Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board. “Gone are the days when quality courses and good weather were enough to entice golfers to book their breaks in a certain country. They are now looking for destinations that can - and will - also offer hearty local cuisine and fine foods - ingredients we are definitely not short of here in Costa Brava.

“Our location and our geographical diversity put everything into the melting pot: meat, poultry, game, fruit and vegetables. So it is only right to celebrate our most renowned local produce with dedicated gastronomy festivals,” he continued.

For golfers teeing off at either Empordá Golf - a Continental Europe Top 100 Course - Golf D’Aro Mas Nou or Club de Golf Costa Brava, one of the region’s oldest courses, a reservation at the new addition to the Michelin-starred family, Restaurant Casamar, should be on the itinerary.

The region is easily accessible to both national and international visitors thanks to Girona Costa Brava Airport, a major Ryanair hub. Barcelona International Airport is an hour’s drive away and the new high-speed rail link that will link Paris to Girona and Barcelona is set to open later this year.
